Chobe Savanna Lodge is situated in the eastern Caprivi of Namibia, on the northern bank of the Chobe River.
Chobe Savanna Lodge overlooks the vast floodplains of the Chobe National Park’s Puku Flats, making it the perfect location for viewing the incredible expanse of African bush. The main building is thatched and open-sided, featuring a spectacular 270-degree view over the Chobe River and reserve, where game such as antelope, buffalo and hippo are free to roam.
This area of the Chobe River is home to the largest herds of elephant in Africa, buffalo and hippo, as well as concentrations of other wildlife which come down to the rivers edge to drink, graze and hunt. Chobe Savanna Lodge is relaxed and informal, set in a classic African savanna environment with sweeping vistas surrounding the lodge. The focal point of Chobe Savanna Lodge is a thatched open sided main building which features a 270 degree view over the Chobe River and beyond to the Chobe National Park.
Chobe Savanna Lodge accommodates only 24 guests in elegantly furnished thatched chalets, all with private decks, a combined bedroom / lounge area and en-suite facilities. All chalets are air-conditioned and have complimentary mini bars.
Chobe Savanna Lodge boating activities
As this is a water-based lodge, guests have a choice of aquatic activities. River excursions in small, easily maneuverable boats are ideal for close encounters with the wild visitors to the river’s edge.
Game drives within the Chobe National Park offer the opportunity to view the abundant elephant and other big game species up close, and also the possibility of an encounter with one of the large predators.

“The welcome song, the facilities, the food, the staff, the rooms……EVERYTHING was beyond amazing. The view from our room was like that of a dream. Elephants everywhere! This is a place that MUST be visited before you die. Seriously. We will be back.” –bigbensf2017
“This is a wonderful place to stay, made particularly special by the warm and friendly staff who cannot do enough for you. The special messages at each meal and the beautiful farewell song at our last meal will stay in our memories forever.
Being on the water is an amazing way to get up close and personal with hippos and elephants, never mind the birds, lions and other animals. Absolutely incredible watching up to a hundred elephant playing and swimming in the river. It was hard to believe what we were seeing! The cultural experience to the village where the friendly village greeted us so warmly was one of the highlights of our time in Southern Africa.” –Rich L
“I cant say enough about this amazing place! Staff so friendly and helpful not to mention tuneful! The singing welcome as one walked up from the river was magical! The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and we especially loved the wee messages written in the butter each meal time. The chalets are well equipped with the air conditioning welcome respite from the heat. The game drives on the river a relaxing way to view many elephants, hippo, baboons and even a leopard in Chobe National park.” –aileensmith2016
